Why Formulas Work: our fun experiment in getting people watching.
Why Formulas Work is our fun company experiment: one-minute videos that show where a formula comes from, drawn with simple shapes. We hope it gives us plenty to highlight in our own social posts, gets people talking, and sends more views to the channels.
What it is
Each video takes one formula and shows where it comes from. The shapes slide, split and rearrange until the answer is obvious. No memorizing, and no "just trust it".
We started with algebra and geometry. Now we are adding probability and money math too, so expect puzzles like the Monty Hall problem, the birthday paradox and compound interest right alongside the shape videos.
Teachers can show the videos in class for free. The videos teach the arithmetic only, and nothing on the channel is financial, medical or legal advice.
Video 001 in three frames

The video ends by swapping the numbers for letters, which gives the general formula a² − b² = (a + b)(a − b).
Why we are doing it
Mostly because it is fun. It is also a chance to try on our own channel the same things we do for clients: post steadily, see what people respond to, and find out what gets them to comment, share and follow.
Every video gives us something to post about on our own pages too: the clip, a favorite moment, a story from making it. If people enjoy it, the channels grow, and we will share how it goes.
What we are hoping for
- Plenty to post about. Every new video, and the story behind it, gives us fresh material for our own social media.
- Real engagement. We want people to comment, share and follow, and to tell us which topics they want next.
- More views for the channels. We post the same video on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram and watch how each one does.
- A wider mix of topics. Shapes and algebra got us started. Now we are mixing in probability and money math, and watching which ones people like best.
What we have learned so far
- It is early. The first video went public on November 3, 2026. We do not have enough views to say anything yet, and we will not publish numbers until they are real.
- We will add notes here as we go, with dates, so you can see what worked and what did not.
How it connects to our client work
This is the same kind of work we do for clients: planning short videos, posting them across platforms and keeping a steady schedule. Trying it on our own channel means we learn what it takes first, and have fun doing it.
